A wise man once said
In order to change who you are,
Change your way of thinking.
A man cannot change his outer shell
Without changing where his soul dwells.
And as I started seeking.
Pondering what he was speaking.
A mingling of thoughts formed in my head.
Journeying through the jungles
Of my entangled mind.
Searching far and wide
To see what I could find.
And there in a distance
Sat a familiar Being
Looking and asking
Where have you been?
As I tried to reply
Having a lost for words.
He smiled and said
I see what you saw
And hear what you heard.
Come on, talk to Me.
Tell Me what you are feeling.
It’s therapeutic.
Sit down and let’s start the healing.
Comforting my soul
With warmth and grace,
I sat next to Him
And stared in His face.
Well, I’ve been talking to this wise man
About how I want to change
And what he said to me
Got me feeling confused and deranged.
The demons that I fight
Sometimes tend to get the upper hand.
It seems as if my spirit gets weak
And is in need of a better plan.
My son, He said
Your mind has led your heart astray.
And in return
Your soul has lost its way.
Try to be strong
And I’ll guide you to a peaceful place.
No one has all the answers
Or mastered the art of perfection.
But you’ll find peace and joy
With plenty of love and affection.
As I sat listening to His words,
My heart seemed to skip a beat.
It was as if time had froze
And my mind started to see.
Gloriously, opportunity and potential
Entered my soul.
Strengthening my spirit.
Brightening it like a pot of gold.
How could I allow
My mind to shovel a hole so deep?
Burying my heart.
Putting it fast to sleep.
Well, my son,
Lucifer comes in many angles
And takes many formations.
You, however, have the power
Not to follow any temptations.
Many people quickly blame the devil
For their transgressions.
Foolishly losing thought
Of My strength and protection.
The blessing of freewill
Comes with great responsibility on your part.
But I will not let you go too far
As long as you keep Me in your heart.
